Candied lemon sticks

The lemon sticks come from Provence , more precisely from the city of Apt . This is known as the world capital of candied fruits . The place is about 50 km north of Aix-en-Provence and is surrounded by orchards and vines. The sunny area is the ideal environment for growing fruits.

The community has been making candied fruit for centuries. The good quality of the fruit is a basic requirement for the later product. The Lemons are carefully washed, and the peel is cut into strips. Then they are boiled several times in sugar syrup, slowly cooled and then coated with dark chocolate.

Pope Urban V was spoiled with the candied fruits as early as 1365, who stopped there on a pilgrimage.
