Sur del Lago means south of the lake. This refers to the large Lake Maracaibo in Venezuela, which today is an inland sea with 13,512 km², Lake Constance in comparison is only 536 km². The region is one of the oldest and most interesting cocoa growing regions in the world and is located in the southwest of the lake. The climatic conditions are favorable, Criollo- and Trinitariobäume grow here.
