Tartufini Piemonte

Italian cocoa truffle with hazelnut paste and chopped hazelnuts.

Hazelnuts, hazelnut paste, milk, cocoa, butter and sugar are mixed into a mass and pressed into small, cylindrical truffles in suitable molds. The truffles are cold-pressed so that all ingredients can develop their characteristic aromas . The truffles are then rolled in cocoa and wrapped in fine paper by hand.

The truffles do not contain chocolate, but a cocoa-hazelnut mixture. They are therefore not classic chocolate pralines, but a typical Piedmontese specialty .

Piedmont, a region in northwest Italy around Turin, is known for the quality of its hazelnuts. Mild winters and moist and warm soils are ideal conditions for the hazelnut bushes. They ensure the excellent taste and smell of the nuts as well as their long shelf life and good peelability.

The Venchi company has been producing the finest chocolates and pralines for almost 140 years. Silvano Venchi founded his company in 1878. He opened his chocolaterie in Turin. It all started with just two bronze saucepans, in which Venchi developed and produced his creations from now on. Today the Venchi product range includes more than 350 products. The passion and love for hazelnuts and cocoa with which Silvano Venchi made his products at the time can still be felt in the company today.
