The story

The story of Chocolarder begins in 2012, as the passion project of Mike Longman, a master pastry chef. During his time running a patisserie at a local restaurant in Cornwall, Mike developed a passion for sourcing the best local ingredients he could find, which got him thinking about Chocolate. It was an ingredient he loved working with, but there was no locally produced Chocolate in Cornwall. That's when he started to think: What could I do to change that? And so Chocolarder was born.

chocolarder-falmouth-cornwall-factory-visit-2024Chocolarder produces high quality Chocolate from organically grown beans sourced from family-run plantations around the world. Chocolarder sources the beans directly from the farmers. By going directly from the cocoa farm to their factory, they can be selective about the quality of the beans and be sure that the money they pay goes to those who do the actual work. Having found reputable growers who produce high quality beans, they are committed to always buying their harvest at prices well above market or Fairtrade prices. the company is also actively involved in reforestation projects around the world.

Chocolarder's commitment to ethical and sustainable practices has led them to stand for more than just great taste. A commitment to zero-carbon alternatives wherever possible, reuse of all raw materials including cocoa bean shells, plastic-free packaging and a commitment to a sustainable future. In addition, the beans are processed into delicious Chocolate in old, restored and antique machines.
