The history of the traditional company begins in 1880.
Already in 1880 the history of the traditional company begins in the house Unter den Linden 19. Sawade is the oldest chocolate manufactory in Berlin. The confectioner and founder Ladislaus Ziemkiewicz was madly in love with his neighbor Madame Marie de Savadé. He named his first store after her. Fine homemade Pralines, confections and candies were named after her. Sawadé soon became court confiseur to Prince George of Prussia and Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. Until the war, aristocratic circles and other social classes ordered the sweet temptations in Berlin.
After the war, the company moves and downsizes. Ulrich Spengler, the seller of the company recognizes his chance and takes over the brand name in 1953. He builds the new factory in Reinickendorf in 1972. In 2008 Ulrich Spengler dies and his son takes over the company. He does not have a happy hand with the company and files for insolvency in July 2013. At the end of the year Melanie and Benno Hübel take over the traditional company and do not renew everything, but try to keep the traditional recipes. They modernize behind the scenes, in packaging and invest in employees for marketing.

Today all offered Pralines and confections are 100% produced in the in-house manufactory. Only noble ingredients such as real butter, fresh cream, the best marzipan and homemade ganaches in dark Chocolate, milk chocolate or white Chocolate. The specialty of the house is the leaf brittle and the marzipan made from Mediterranean almonds.
Were distinguished with the International Chocolate Awards the walnut on brandy marzipan Praline, ginger with vodka Praline and the queen Luise Praline.
