Der Kakao für diese Schokolade kommt aus Peru aus der Region Cuzco im Amazonas Gebiet. In dem Gebiet liegt auch Cuzco, die ehemalige Hauptstadt des Inkareiches und später das Zentrum der spanischen Kolonialherrschaft. Der Kakao wächst teilweise noch wild in abgelegenen Regionen. Er wird von Indigenen geerntet, fermentiert und getrocknet. Der Kakao wird auch Urkakao genannt und ist sehr selten.
