Hoja Verde the green leaf, chocolate made from Bean-To-Bar in Ecuador, right on the equator. The company was born from a merger of two family businesses with the same values. The Letort family had founded Hoja Verde Flowers and Hoja Verde Chocolate, while the Vélez family were pioneers in the coffee sector. The two families were joined by two more investors who want to accompany Hoja Ver de. All together they think that Ecuador has great opportunities as a producer of chocolate in the world market. After all,  one of the best cocoa varieties grows right on Ecuador's coast.

The Arriba cacao used at Hoja Verde is a cacao fino de aroma, famous for its floral and fruity flavors. They work with a Organic cooperative UOPROCAE (Union de Productores de Cacao Arriba de Esmeraldas). The cooperative has stood out from others for its good fermentation process. Fermentation is where the most important flavors of the cacao are created, and it must be done very carefully.
