MIA Chocolate

MIA Chocolate

The two founders of MIA, Brett Beach and Sarah have worked for a long time in Madagascar and Egypt. They want to share the extraordinary flavors from Africa with the world and have decided to make this happen with MIA. At the same time, they care about making a positive change in the local people. Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in the world. Through the project MIA, which means Made in Africa in English, work and delicious products are created. Although Africa represents 12% of the world's population, only 2% of world trade is generated there. MIA aims to change this by exporting not only raw materials such as cocoa beans, but the finished product - Chocolate. This way, most of the value chain stays in the country.

MIA Chocolate: amazing food that does good.

  • The entire manufacturing process of Chocolate takes place under one roof - Bean-To-Bar Chocolate .
  • The cocoa beans come from one region - Single Origin Chocolate.
  • The cocoa beans belong to the Fine Flavour cocoa category, which includes only 10% of the total world harvest.
  • MIA has itself verified by independent third parties and thus contributes to great transparency.
  • The cocoa is fairly traded and working conditions and wages are fair.
  • % of the MIA profit goes to social projects.

There are 27 women and men working in the factory. A typical MIA container full of Chocolate means 14 days of work for the whole factory or 394 working days in total. In addition to direct employment, chocolate production also supports technical skills such as food safety, factory management, quality control, machine operation and maintenance work.

The product range of MIA includes two pure dark chocolates with 75% and 100% cocoa content. The remaining chocolates are bars with additives that are of regional origin: Coconut, Orange, Almond, Cranberry, Hemp, Baobab and Salted Nibs.
