Soconusco 70% dark chocolate from Mexico

The cocoa beans for this Chocolate come from Soconusco in the state of Chiapas in the extreme southwest of Mexico on the border with Guatemala. Here, conditions are ideal for cocoa cultivation. The climate is tropically humid, with average temperatures ranging between 30° and 35° C.

The fine Criollo cocoa beans give this Chocolate fruity aromas of blackcurrant and gooseberry. Despite the higher cocoa content, the Chocolate is mild and mellow with aromas of latte, malt and caramel. It is velvety and creamy in texture. Many of the old trees in this area bear the traces of the original Criollo genetics grown thousands of years ago.
