The cacao comes from the small community of Cesar Vallejo de Palo Blanco, Chulucanas, Piura. Small farmers have been growing one of Peru's most exquisite native cacao varieties for years: Gran Palo Blanco Gran Palo Blanco is a special cacao known for its delicate flavor, aromas and fragrances.These cocoa beans are light brown, with a sweet and fruity acidity that remains, with hints of nuts like dry plums, medium round body, with medium chocolate flavor, presence of malt notes and nuts. It is a cocoa of low astringency and bitterness, with a creamy texture.

The municipality of Cesar Vallejo in Palo Blanco is located west, about 80 km from the provincial capital Piura. Palo Blanco is like an oasis where exceptional cacao grows in the shade of mango, banana and orange trees. Here in this mountainous area, Don Juan de la Cruz Rivera Olemar planted the first cacao trees before in the 1990s. He was one of the first cacao farmers, of what is now 31 cacao farmers, who have organized and formed a cooperative as the "Association of Producers Cesar Vallejo of Palo Blanco". Most of the farms have less than one hectare of extension. Through joint training in organic farming, pruning of cacao trees, and controlled post-harvest practices, they now produce one of the most sought-after cacao, which won the 2014 Golden Peruvian Cacao Award.
