Amedei was founded in 1998 by the siblings Alessio and Cecilia Tessieri and named after their maternal grandmother. A company with tradition that, after years of hard work, can boast of producing one of the best chocolates in the world. This was also the great dream of the two founders, who from the beginning pursued the goal of producing their own chocolate directly from the cocoa beans. Amedei Chocolate sources cocoa beans from selected plantations around the world. In addition, the manufactory was the first company in the world to be able to process cocoa beans from the famous growing area Chuao north of Caracas. The beans harvested there are still pure in variety and have not been crossed with other beans, as the plantation is only accessible from the sea. Therefore, it is also the only area in the world whose cocoa beans are allowed to bear the title "of specified origin".

Almost all the bars of Amedei chocolate have already won several international awards award-winning: the chocolate made from the beans of the Chuao plantation was awarded the prize for the best chocolate in the world in 2005 by the Academy of Chocolate in London. And every year new products of the assortment are awarded again and again. Particularly popular is among other things the Amedei Porcelana: Porcelana is a varietal Criollo and virtually the progenitor of all cocoas. The bean of the very low-yielding and particularly sensitive plants offers an unbelievable aroma fullness and is very round in taste, so that connoisseurs all over the world like to enjoy it. The name refers to the light color of the bean - which makes the bar look almost like milk chocolate - but also makes it clear how fine and precious this cocoa, unique in the world, really is.
In August 2017, Amedei was acquired 99% by Ferrarelle Mineral Water. In the hands of the founder Cecilia Tessieri has remained a 1% share. We will see how this constellation develops.
