The cocoa beans comes from Semuliki Forest in Semuliki National Park, in the remote Bundibugyo region of western Uganda and is home to some of the most diverse flora and fauna in Africa.

Cocoa is grown by the 1,002 smallholder farmers in the region, 52% of whom are women. The Latitude Trade Co. (LTC) cocoa cooperative organizes six rural collection points to which farmers have access and where they sell fresh cocoa to the network weekly for cash payment at the point of sale. LTC's central fermentation plant and warehouse are located in the village of Bumate at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains.
